Luxury packaging manufacturer for Australia
Last updated: 24 September 2026
We manufacture custom luxury packaging in China and ship it to brands across Australia, duty-free under the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement. This page sets out what we make, the minimums, the duty and GST position, and how long it takes to arrive.
What we make for Australian brands
Luxel Pac is a custom luxury packaging manufacturer for brands across Australia. We produce rigid boxes, folding cartons, luxury carrier bags, pouches, e-commerce mailers and the branding accessories that hold a packaging suite together. Finishes include foil stamping, embossing, soft-touch lamination and Pantone colour matching.
Every format below is made to your specification rather than adapted from a stock size. Minimums differ by format because the tooling and set-up behind each one differs.
| Format | Minimum order | Common use |
|---|---|---|
| Rigid boxes | 1,000 units | Skincare, cosmetics, fragrance, jewellery, gifting |
| Pouches and tote bags | 1,000 units | Jewellery, samples, retail add-ons |
| Food and confectionery packaging | 2,500 units | Chocolate, tea, gift hampers |
| Luxury carrier bags | 5,000 units | Boutique retail and events |
| E-commerce mailers | 5,000 units | Direct-to-consumer beauty and fashion |
| Branding accessories | 5,000 units | Ribbon, tissue, seals, belly bands |
| Sustainable packaging | 5,000 units | Recycled, recyclable and FSC-certified formats |
| Folding cartons | 10,000 units | Cosmetic and retail cartons at volume |
Is packaging made in China duty-free into Australia?
Yes. Packaging made in China enters Australia duty-free under the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA), provided the shipment travels with a ChAFTA certificate of origin. We supply that certificate with every Australian order.
The certificate is issued in China by an authorised body, one for each shipment. We arrange it as part of the order rather than leaving it to a request. Without it, most packaging pays a 5% duty on arrival.
Australia charges 10% GST on imports from every country, and ChAFTA does not change that. On DDP, delivered duty paid, we include the GST and the import charges in the quoted price. The number on the quote is your landed cost.
How long does packaging take to reach Australia?
Allow 9 to 11 weeks by sea to a door in Australia, counted from the day you approve the pre-production sample.
- Pre-production sample: 7 to 10 days to make, plus a few days by express courier.
- Production: 4 to 6 weeks for most formats, starting the day you approve that sample. Simple accessories run shorter and food-safe work runs longer; each product page states its own.
- Sea freight: around 4 weeks to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
- DDP clearance and delivery to your door: one further week.
Put together, this is what to plan against.
| Destination | Sea transit | To port | Delivered DDP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane | Around 4 weeks | 8 to 10 weeks | 9 to 11 weeks |
By air cargo, allow 6 to 8 weeks in total, and by express courier 5 to 7 weeks, which suits smaller consignments.
For stock on the shelf by the start of December, artwork wants to be signed off in early September if it travels by sea. After that, air cargo protects the date.
If a deadline is tighter than that, tell us the date before the specification. Some of it compresses: air freight instead of sea, or a finish that needs no separate tooling. It is better to design around the deadline than to discover it at sampling.
Cosmetic and skincare packaging for Australian brands
Skincare and cosmetics are where a rigid box earns its place, and the insert decides whether it works. We make cosmetic rigid boxes from 1,000 units. Inserts are cut from foam, thermoformed in PET, folded from board or moulded in bagasse, chosen on the weight and fragility of what they carry.
Folding cartons suit a range sold at volume, from 10,000 units, while a rigid box carries the gift set. We make both, so the colours and finishes match across the two rather than being matched later by eye.
How our China production and Dubai office work together
Our production is in China and our office is in Dubai. The making sits in China, where the tooling, the hand-finishing and the material range for luxury work run deepest. We match each construction to the facility that does it best, supervised by our own team.
You deal with one company throughout rather than a broker in the middle. Quoting, artwork and approvals run through the same people from the first message to delivery.
Starting a project from Australia
Send us the product, the quantity, the finish you have in mind and the date you need it in Australia. If you have artwork or a dieline, include it. You will have a considered reply within one working day. It will contain a price, a material recommendation and a production timeline, not a request for a meeting.
